Do you imagine sitting in a tipi with a peace pipe and a smoky fire pit?

I am not surprised if you find these words unrelatable.  I am putting my own spin on the concept of ‘sage conversations’.  Let me explain what it means to me!

Sage Conversations leave you feeling heard, understood, and respected.

sage conversation begins before dialogue with another.  The inner voice of negativity is quieted, so that you can greet others without judgement, of yourself or others.  In a sage conversation you explore and understand what the other’s experience has been, what their aspirations for the future are and what their perspective is on the topic at hand.

A sage conversation is a dialogue.  It has space and time for each person to share their thoughts, expand their thinking and create new ideas and approaches better than the ones that were shared at the start of the conversations.

A sage conversation is energizing and inspiring.  At the end of the conversation there are no misunderstandings, nor frustrations, because both people have listened to understand and connect with one another.

A sage conversation leads to more cooperation, mutual accountability, more progress, and shared success.

Woowoo or not…does this sound like conversations you have with your leader or team members?

Sage conversations are the foundation for effective leadership.
